Kentucky: Alert, flooding in eastern areas of state April 17, 2013

Kentucky Emergency Management is closely monitoring flooding in several eastern Kentucky counties as a result of heavy rains that moved across the state last night. Strong thunderstorms capable of producing strong winds and heavy rains are forecast for much of the Commonwealth over the next few days.

The Commonwealth Emergency Operations Center (CEOC), located in Frankfort at Boone Center, is watching flood conditions in Clay, Knox, Laurel, Harlan Leslie and Owsley counties. Some residents in Clay County in the Brite Shade area are stranded due to high water, and a swift water rescue team from Laurel County is en route to assist. Read Article
