The New York Times reports that at least 86 tourists were trapped by heavy snow on Monday at the north base camp of Mount Everest in central Tibet, according to Xinhua, China’s state news agency. The tourists, all but 13 of them Chinese, had finished sightseeing and were ready to descend to a lower altitude when the storm hit, Xinhua reported, citing the local government. No casualties had been reported by Monday morning. Read article
