Volusia County, Florida: Tourist dies/ 14 year old teen missing

Lifeguards and a Volusia County sheriff’s helicopter were searching for the Orlando teen who got caught in the rip current about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. They called off the search Sunday evening. The boy had gone into the water with two friends in the 2600 block south of New Smyrna Beach when the group got caught in a rip current. Bystanders pulled two of the swimmers to safety but could not rescue the 14-year-old, said Capt. Tamara Marris, spokeswoman for Volusia County’s Beach Patrol. Read article
