thelocal.fr reported that a French-Turkish university student has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by a Turkish court for “terrorist propaganda” in a case which has sparked criticism from human rights groups.
A French-Turkish university student has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by a Turkish court for “terrorist propaganda” in a case which has sparked criticism from human rights groups. The student is free until her appeal and does not have to remain in Turkey and must post bail of over $5,000.
The exchange student was arrested after joining a May Day parade in Istanbul and went on trial in September on charges that risked the possibility of over thirty years in prison. Read Article
