STRONGEST HURRICANE IN HISTORY SLAMS MEXICO, TOURISTS TRAPPED, POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC

capital weather gang reported… Early Friday, the monstrous storm Patricia became the strongest hurricane ever measured by the National Hurricane Center. At 6:15 p.m. local time Friday, the extremely dangerous Category 5 storm made landfall along the coast of southwestern Mexico. It is expected to unleash destructive winds, torrents of rain, and a devastating storm surge on its move inland.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is describing the situation as “potentially catastrophic.”

The storm’s maximum sustained winds strengthened to an astonishing 200 mph this morning but weakened to 165 mph at landfall, while maintaining Category 5 hurricane strength, the NHC said. read article
