Posted on March 21, 2012 • Filed under: Spain, Travel News

Although striking, the drivers did not want to restrict their taxi service completely because the customer is not at fault. All 109 drivers from the municipality supported the action from 7-8am then a system was put in place to offer a skeleton service until 2pm when normal service resumed. The drivers are taking action in protest about the number of private vehicles that transport passengers to and from the airport in Lanzarote illegally. The Asociación Profesional de Taxistas de Lanzarote want action taken against these other drivers who are effectively stealing their jobs, they are also calling for Teguise and Yaiza drivers to join them in the cause.
