ft.com reported that gunmen in northeastern Nigeria kidnapped up to seven foreign workers from the UK, Italy, Greece and Lebanon during a raid on a construction company compound on Saturday night, police said. It is the biggest kidnapping of foreign nationals in northern Nigeria since the Islamist insurgency there began in 2009. Read Article

The attack occurred in a rural part of Bauchi state. Mohammed Ladan, the Bauchi police chief, said the kidnappers initially targeted a police station and prison in the town of Jama’are before storming the compound of the Lebanese road and bridge building company.
