Italy: Immigrant woman from Sengal detained in death of U.S. expat

Washingtonpost.com reported Italian authorities said they have detained a Senegalese immigrant days after an American woman was discovered dead in her apartment in Florence, Italy. Tidiane Cheik Diaw, 27, has become the prime suspect based on witness testimony and DNA evidence from a condom and cigarette butt, Chief Prosecutor Giuseppe Creazzo said Thursday at a news conference, according to the Associated Press. Authorities said Ashley Olsen, a 35-year-old from Summer Haven, Fla., was found dead Saturday morning in an apartment she rented in Florence. Her boyfriend, concerned because she would not answer her phone, authorities said, had her landlord unlock her door — and discovered her naked body on the bed. Read Article
