Italy: American tourist stabbed in Florence

An American tourist underwent emergency surgery to remove a kidney after he was stabbed in Florence’s main square in front of the city’s famous Duomo cathedral on Tuesday, adnkronos.com reports. Doctors said the 68-year-old tourist suffered knife wounds to a kidney and a lung but was no longer critical on Wednesday and was conscious and breathing unaided. Police have arrested a 37-year-old homeless man from the southern Italian city of Bari over the stabbing. Read article
