Egypt: death toll from rioting reaches 31 and at least 300 injured

rferl.org reported that officials in Egypt say the death toll from rioting in the city of Port Said has reached 31. At least two police officers were among the dead in the violence, which left more than 300 people injured. The rioting broke out in Port Said and other Egyptian cities after a court on January 26 handed down 21 death sentences to people convicted of participating in soccer-related violence in February 2012 that left 74 people dead.
