Australia: West Australia is expecting to face shortfall up to 150,000 skilled workers by 2017

The Roy Hill iron ore mine in the Pilbara region, which is expected to begin production in 2014/15, is one of the biggest resource projects underway in the booming Australian state. A spokesman for the development said earlier this week that around 2,000 Australians would be recruited for “highly paid” permanent positions by the time the mine opens, but that a further 8,000 workers could be needed during the construction period.
