American tourist trampled to death by elephant in Tanzania

News.com.au reports that an American doctor has been trampled to death by an elephant, days before he was due to take up a new executive position. Thomas McAfee, 58, was on a luxury safari in Africa when he was killed by the charging elephant, the Daily Mail reports. McAfee, who was a dean at the University of California’s San Diego campus, was taking a luxury holiday at Tarangire National Park in Tanzania before embarking on a new role as chief executive of Keck Medicine of USC Medical Foundation.
