31 German tourists killed when their bus sliced in half by train in Hungary

Thirty mainly elderly German holidaymakers and their driver died today when a passenger train slammed into their coach in central Hungary, slicing it in half and dragging it down the track, police said. Police spokesman Laszlo Gelencser said the coach was hit by the Budapest to Nagykanizsa train just after 8.30am (6.35am UK time) as it crossed a railway line near Siofok on the shores of Lake Balaton, Hungary’s leading tourist area.
