Indonesia: Boat carrying foreign tourists catches fire off Bali, injuring seven

Thejakartaglobe.com reports that seven foreign tourists were injured after a boat caught fire near Padangbai harbor in Bali on Thursday. The Ocean Star Express I boat, which transported people from Bali to neighboring Lombok island, was carrying 32 passengers — all of whom were foreign tourists — when the boat caught fire not far from the harbor. The incident took place at about 10 a.m. on Thursday. “[The boat caught fire] in Labuan Amuk waters, 20 minutes away from Padangbai harbor,” the port’s chief Ketut Arya Dana told Indonesian news portal antaranews.com. “We suspect it was caused by a short circuit.” Read article
