On January 12, 2014, in La Milina Salinas Ecuador a retired couple from the U.K. found themselves victimized by two gun wielding men in their 30’s.

According to one of the victims, the incident happened when she was preparing dinner at 5:00 pm. Her husband was on the front patio when the two assailants pointed their guns through the front gate. They pushed there way through the gate. Her husband entered the house and with his wife ran to a back bedroom of their house. During this process the husband punched one of the criminals when he thought the assailants were going after his wife and slightly grazed his head with a pistol. When in the bedroom, they locked the door and blocked it. The assailants tried to push the door in. During the commotion the criminals left and stole phones and an IPAD.

Once they felt they were out of harms way, the husband ran to a neighbors and phoned police who arrived within minutes. Neither of the victims were physically hurt but are planning on making some security changes. One comment made by one of the victims is they have a machete in the house but, the whole incident happened so fast that neither one of them had time to grab it. Also, there is a neighborhood watch who has increased patrols in the area.
