India: Fight over matchbox escalates into brawl that ends in the death of a tourist

Times of India reports that a minor tussle over a matchbox between two groups snowballed into a dirty brawl eventually resulting in the death of a tourist from Tamil Nadu on Varkala beach.The incident occurred when Sooryanarayanan of Tirupur and his friends Murukesan and Sivakumar visited Blue Marine Beach Resort for a juice around 10.30pm on Monday. “While waiting for the juice they had ordered, Sooryanarayanan asked for a matchbox to the owner of the resort to which the owner allegedly responded in a provocative manner. The talks turned bad and the owner allegedly pushed Sooryanarayan down the cliff, resulting in his death,” Varkala police said. Read article
