4,700 evacuated in Canary Islands due to wave of fires

Hundreds of acres burned Saturday in several regions of central, eastern and western Spain, while in the Canary Islands fires in La Gomera and Tenerife, two of the islands of the archipelago, forced the evacuation of more than 4,700 people.

“The fighting equipment are now working both in Tenerife and La Gomera are struggling to limit the spread of fire,” said regional councilor of Economy, Javier Gonzalez Ortiz, who explained the call for “high temperatures, low humidity and wind.” Read Article
