Spanish government issues travel alert for Acapulco and other areas of northern Mexico

Among the “special danger zones” in northern Mexico Spain’s government asks its citizens to avoid include Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, border and mountain areas of that entity, Durango, Sinaloa and Sonora populations area lower Rio Grande Valley, the Texas border, Ciudad Victoria, rural and urban Tampico, Tamaulipas. Spain’s government advised its citizens traveling or living in Mexico to avoid visiting the port of Acapulco, Guerrero, and cities in northern Mexico, which classifies as “particularly dangerous areas.” “In Acapulco, organized crime has recently starred in violent incidents perpetrated against Spanish tourists, which are added to those perpetrated against Mexicans,” raises the alert issued on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC).
