Panama: Government of Canada warns Canadian visitors to avoid certain parts where high crime still exists

Most Canadian visitors to Panama do not experience problems. However, Canadians should exercise a high degree of caution when travelling in certain parts of the country, including Colón and some areas of Panama City, where high crime rates exist. There are reports of road closures on the Pan-American Highway near San Felix, Pacora, Horconcitos, Tole, Las Lomas and Vigui areas. Traffic disruptions are expected in this area and other locations.
