Coastal tourist areas of Costa Rica hit by dengue outbreak 2013

Nacion.com repoerted that Dengue virus attacked with more force than usual this summer, preying especially those living in the provinces of Puntarenas and Guanacaste. These coastal areas account for 52% of all patients this year: 1,394 affected in the Central Pacific Region and the Region Chorotega 1097, according to the latest data from the Social Security Fund (CCSS). In the country, the average increase between the summer of 2012 and 2013 was 300%. Puntarenas and Guanacaste also recorded the highest increase of the disease in the country.
