Travel Advisory Burma: U.K. officials issue travel warning after serious violence

As issued by gov.uk, “In response to serious inter-communal violence in Meiktila, the Burmese government has imposed states of emergency in 4 townships: Meiktila, Mahlaing, Tharzi and Wundwin. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel to these townships. Following unrest in areas of Pago division from 24 March, the government imposed curfews (between 6pm and 6am) and other restrictions on public gatherings in several townships in western Pago division. Be alert to further announcements by the Burmese government and monitor local developments. Keep in close contact with your tour operator, or employer.” Read Article
