Brazil: Case still pending in murder of French artist in Paraguaçu, Minas Gerais

His body was found later that month. The perpetrators, José Luiz de Oliveira and his son (a minor), were questioned but not formally held because of lack of evidence. Authorities asked for preliminary custody, as the two were obstructing justice, and the judge granted the request. José Luiz worked as a stonemason for the Frenchman, and killed the artist after a heated discussion and various threats thrown back and forth. The case is still pending. Read Article
