American nationals among killed in Philippines after massive typhoon

As reported by Dailymail.co.uk, two Americans are among the more than 1,700 victims killed when Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines, but the U.S. State Department has warned it expects the figure to rise. As the U.S. prepares to send in aid equipment on three warships, the Marine General leading the relief effort has said the world needs to act quickly to help the millions affected by the super typhoon. The official death toll from the storm stands at more than 1,700, but the figure is expected to rise as aid workers reach the towns and villages devastated by 235mph winds and 20ft waves on Friday.
