Brazil: more than 2,000 people at Kiss Nightclub when fire broke out

More than 2,000 people were reveling away at Kiss Nightclub in Santa Maria on Sunday when tragedy struck.

It was around 2:30am when the band Gurizada Fandangueira prepared for its usual fireworks show. A flag was lit by one of the band members as an attention-getter however it sparked a fire that erupted all the way to the ceiling causing the building, the “Kiss” nightclub to become a blazing inferno. The 2,000 revelers, band members, and club staff were caught completely unawares and massive panic followed.
