European Centre Disease Prevention and Control urges travelers be properly vaccinated due to ongoing measles in Ukraine

The UEFA European football championship starts in Warsaw, Poland on 8th June 2012 with the final to be played in Kyiv, Ukraine on 1st July. Known as Euro 2012 for this year’s event it is one of soccer’s biggest tournaments after the World Cup and is expected to attract in excess of a million spectators. There is an ongoing epidemic of measles in Ukraine which started earlier this year and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control expects this to accelerate in the run up to the start of the matches in June. National Sea Rescue Institute issues Warning for Shark activity in the vicinity of Buffel Bay and Knysna

A shark warning was issued along the southern Cape coastline on Friday (13/04/2012), the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said. “[Bathers are urged] to exercise caution following reports of increased shark activity in the vicinity of Buffels Bay and Knysna, following the beaching of a Brydes whale carcass,” spokesman Craig Lambinon said.
