Traffic accident numbers down but deaths up in Ecuador for 2012

Eluniverso.com reported that the number of traffic accidents decreased during the last year in Ecuador, although deaths from this cause increased by 4.7% compared with 2011. Juan Ruales, National Director of Traffic Control and Road Safety, said yesterday that while in 2011 there were 15,751 traffic accidents on the roads, in 2012 the figure stood at 13,979, which means a decrease of 11.31%.
