United States: Health warning issued, high levels of bacteria in Cypress Point beach

As covered by wtsp.com, “A Health Advisory has been issued for Cypress Point beach based on the criteria for enterococci bacteria recommended by the EPA. Samples taken Tuesday, April 30, were above threshold for enterococci bacteria and therefore considered a potential risk to the bathing public. Enteric bacteria, enterococci, normally inhabits the intestinal tract of humans and animals, which may cause human disease, infections, or rashes. The presence of enteric bacteria is an indication of fecal pollution, which may come from storm water runoff, pets and wildlife, and human sewage.” Read Article
