United States: Flight from Newark airport makes emergency landing due to smoke in the cockpit

According to nj.com, a United Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport shortly after takeoff this morning when the pilot reported a smoke condition in the cockpit, officials said. United Express flight 4980 landed without incident around 11:15 a.m., according to Steve Coleman, a Port Authority spokesman. Airport emergency crews and Newark firefighters were called to the scene after a reported smoke condition developed in the air, Coleman said. Read article
