Diseases transmitted by insects or animals
Arthropod-borne diseases, especially dengue fever, are common in the Bahamas.
The country is not affected by malaria.
Diseases transmitted by food, water or environment
In the Bahamas, gastric diseases are common among tourists who are not accustomed to local food or who do not take precautions.
Due to the risk of leptospirosis, is recommended for the passenger not bathing in fresh water lakes or rivers. Read Article
