President announced Taiwan cancelled travel alert for Japan’s Fukushima in order to boost tourism

President Ma Ying-jeou announced Monday that Taiwan has cancelled a travel alert applying to most of Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture in order to boost the number of tourists from Taiwan traveling to Japan. The alert now remains in effect only for the area in a 30-kilometer radius of TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, Ma said at a reception held to commemorate the victims of the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami on the northeast coast of Japan.
