New Zealand: Report indicates adventure travel industry lacks controls

An official report into a plane crash at Fox Glacier that killed nine people says there was a low level of supervision of the adventure tourism industry which had outstripped the ability of regulators to control it.
Eight parachutists and the pilot died when the Walter Fletcher plane plunged to the ground on 4 September 2010.
Five New Zealanders and four tourists died in the crash.

Four tourists – from Ireland, Australia, Germany and England – were killed.
The Transport Accident Investigation Commission released its final report on Wednesday.
It said the former topdressing aircraft converted into a sky-diving plane took off at a speed too low for it to be controllable. Read Article
