Colombia: German tourists still held as hostages, Red Cross offers to assist in release

cronica.com.mx reported the Germans Breur Uwe Otto and Gunther were kidnapped last November by the ELN, the second active guerrilla in Colombia, while conducting ecotourism in the Catatumbo region, on the border with Venezuela.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) today announced its willingness to participate in the humanitarian operation that seeks to bring the release of two German tourists held by the rebel National Liberation Army (ELN).

The delegate of the humanitarian organization in Colombia, Maria Cristina Rivera, told reporters that the CIRC “always willing to lend their humanitarian trades”, so is already in contact with the parties to participate in the mission. Read Article
