Tropical Storm Karen threatens the U.S. Gulf Coast

According to The Weather Channel, Tropical Storm Karen developed over the Yucatan Channel and the southern Gulf of Mexico Thursday morning, and is now tracking toward the U.S. Gulf Coast. With the last couple of updates from the National Hurricane Center, Karen has weakened a bit: Welcome news to folks living along the Gulf Coast. That said, hurricane watches continue in effect from Grand Isle, La., to Destin, Fla. These watches do not include metropolitan New Orleans. Read article

21 workers killed, other missing in Qinghai flash flood

According to Thehimalayantimes.com, a flash flood swept through a construction site in the northwestern Chinese province of Qinghai, killing at least 21 workers, state media reported on Wednesday.
